Rebuild

Why use the same company for the cleanup and the rebuild?

Because the job doesn’t stall between contractors. The crew that opened the walls knows what came out and why, the scope and photos are already done, and you keep one point of contact. RestoreX holds a California B General Building license, so the repairs are part of the same job.

Good to know

How is the rebuild scope decided?

From what was removed and why. Our photos, moisture readings and notes from the cleanup show exactly what has to go back in, and that becomes the repair scope we review with you and your adjuster. Changes or upgrades beyond the original materials are discussed with you before they’re added.

Before repairs start

  1. Confirm the structure has been dried to target readings.
  2. Review the repair scope and photos with us.
  3. Share the scope with your adjuster.
  4. Pick any finishes that need choosing, like flooring.
  5. Ask us about permits your city may require.

The rules

What should a California repair contract look like?

Written, with a clear price and a small down payment. State law caps a home improvement down payment at $1,000 or 10% of the contract, whichever is less. After a declared disaster, rebuilding contracts have to be fixed-price, and homeowners get seven business days to cancel. The CSLB also warns against paying in cash.

$1,000Most a home improvement down payment can be in California, or 10% if that’s less

A contractor’s license is required for jobs of $1,000 or more, or any job that needs a permit, and the license number belongs on the contract. For 180 days after an emergency is declared, raising repair prices more than 10% over pre-emergency rates is illegal. B&P Code §7159.5 · §7048 · CSLB disaster help · Penal Code §396.

From a customer

What do customers say about our rebuilds?

That the finished work exceeded what they expected. One homeowner’s insurance claim meant new cabinets plus new flooring and baseboards across the first floor. He wrote that RestoreX stayed in front of the problems every construction job has and never let them become his problem.

“The finished product is better than what we ever could have expected.”

FAQ

Rebuild Questions

No. You can hire any licensed contractor for the repairs. Many customers keep us on because the scope, photos and readings are already done and nothing gets lost between companies.

Some do. Paint, flooring and cabinet work is often exempt, while electrical, plumbing and structural work usually needs a permit, and each city sets its own rules. We’ll tell you what your city requires before work starts.

It depends on the scope. Replacing drywall and paint in a room or two is a short job, while a kitchen or a fire-damaged section of a house takes longer, especially when materials are on order. We give you a schedule once the scope is agreed.

Look up license #1085268 on the Contractors State License Board site. It shows RestoreX LLC’s status, its B and C-61/D64 classifications, and its bond and insurance on file. Check it on CSLB.
